Gossips in tinseltown

I have a confession to make, I am into celebrity gossip. I missed E! Hollywood when I cut our cable. I even buy the occasional glossy mag for a quick fix. Then PPP posted a new website called, funnily enough, “Celebrity Gossip”. It’s a new site that aggregates all the hottest gossips in tinseltown and lets the reader vote/comment on the items. Registration is free guys!

As always before I put up any PPP post, I checked the website & I liked what I saw huh. They even have a top 10 list of the most talked about celeb. If you click on say, Jessica Alba, you’re given a quick info (including her star sign) and the recent gossips about her.

If chism is something you dabble with, check out this site.

Do you like window shopping? I do but I don’t have the energy and the time to spend wandering inside malls or hopping from one place to another especially if the weather and traffic are not cooperating. These days I am spending more time online shopping and browsing. At first I was reluctant, you always hear people say they like to see merchandise firsthand before even thinking about buying them. But the convenience afforded by sitting where you’re comfy and letting your fingers do the shopping is something that I have really enjoyed. Plus, you cannot possibly see ALL the MODELS available in-store, a catalogue is the best option. But with online shops providing detailed descriptions and even zoom in facilities, they are even better.

Most of our bigger pieces of furniture have been bought online you know the sofa, the entertainment system, cabinets etc. etc. But it took me a long time to find those items. I’ve been frustrated with a lot of my searches and since I didn’t know many merchants my options were still limited. Had I known about “Furniture From Home”, my life would have been a little easier.

Their website is very well thought out and I have spent at least 30 minutes browsing their very extensive catalogues of product. It was very easy to use. You can browse by Room, or by Style, and even by Color. So if you are looking for say a home office desk, or some living room furniture, you might want to visit these guys.

I’m particularly keen on their entertainment center offerings. As my lounge is now (generally) clear of my toddler’s toys, it is about time I sort our storage and display units. I saw this plasma entertainment center that will be perfect for us. Now if only I can convince my husband to get it shipped here!

on garages and rooms

Let’s face it we’re all suckers for space. We want space when we’re sitting or standing in the crowded train and we all want more space at home. If you’re lucky enough to have a garage and then I’m sure you’ve been trying to use it for something else other than parking your car. Actually even with my little shed at the back garden, I have been wanting (read: nagging) my husband to buy some metal pegboard to organise it a little. If he ever gets around to actually doing that, then I can enter the shed with a less trepidation.

With the United Kingdom’s penchant for sports, you are bound to see a number of betting agencies every where. You might even come across two to three betting shops in one street. About two or three years ago, the biggest thing on the internet is online poker which predictably became online casinos where you can indulge in a hobby and earn some serious money, oe yes lose some, too.

Bet365 is one such online casino and is currently looking to get some market exposure for their new addition to their service – a sports betting competition site from around the globe! So it’s not just cricket or rugby, football and races are also on offer. Now that the world of F1 is heating up, you might want to check it out yourself.

For those serious probloggers out there or even those with home-based businesses, what is your backup plan? Most companies now opt for offsite data backups. It’s often cheaper and more efficient than trying to squeeze another raid box in your non-existent server rooms.

What will happen if your business is affected by a hard drive crash, a power outage that corrupts data, virus attack, robbery, fire, flood or accidental deletion of data? Will the data on your computer systems be accessible and retrievable? What if your current backups fail? Can your business survive a major data loss? If not, call The Vegas Files today for a courtesy evaluation of your current backup system and get recommendations that will work for your computers and budget!

The Vegas Files, a VANDAO company, offers off-site data backup services that will save your business. Your data files are encrypted for security and then sent to our primary storage platform located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The files are then mirrored to servers in the Midwest for full redundancy. Storing backups in your office is of no use in case of theft, fire or other disasters.

This year I shopped for new clothes and shoes for myself. Then I shopped (together with hubby) for our garden. My next project is to shop for the house and top of my list are curtains and curtain poles. I have been wondering where I should buy those, thankfully this UK-based opportunity came up from PPP. So in the next few days I will be surfing in Terry’s Fabric site.

VoIP nowadays is so common even my mother knows what it is, and that is saying a lot considering she knows nothing about computers. If you’re looking for a service provider, check out Packet8’s rates that start from $14.99 a month. They are offering a variety of packages for any business Voip needs.

I’m a survivor

You’re probably familiar with reality shows pitting men versus nature and willing them to survive using their wits and skills. I’ve also seen shows where so-called experts show you how to survive in case you get stranded in an island, a forest or a desert. You do learn some interesting things. For example like do you know that leaves with insect bites are edible?

However, being stranded, penniless in an unfamiliar urban jungle is totally different scenario. If say I end up in New York with no money and no way to call for help, will going to the police help? I don’t know. Where will I sleep? How can I stay safe?

The most important thing for me in that situation will be to find shelter and get fed. I will look for the British Embassy. They can give me food and bed for the night. From there it will be easier to contact family or friends to notify them of my situation. If an embassy doesn’t exist and I find no shelter, I will hawk whatever valuables I have in exchange for telephone call/s and food.

USA Network’s Burn Notice is a new show, starring Michael Weston, promises to give a new twist on being an urban survivor. It starts on the 28th of June. For a sneak peak, why not visit the show’s website to learn how this CIA Operative survives his job

antispyware – get one

You could be happily surfing the net, checking out the latest goss, shopping, or using your online bank account, all the time you’re unaware someone out there is “listening” and watching your every keyboard type & mouse click.

Are you protected from these silent predators? No? Then I suggest you take a look at Webroot spy sweeper. Spy Sweeper is the most award-winning anti-spyware software. For as low as $29.95 you get 360 degrees of protection.

Aside from the reliable security, you also get free customer support, just in case you don’t know where to start or have any other concerns. And if you have more than one person to protect, why not go for their 3-user pack just for $39.95.

What do I know about reliable software vendors? Okay don’t take my word for it, how about testimonials from big names like PC Magazine, PC World, and Download.com? Companies like these need as much protection as the average Joe Surfer (or Jane Blogger). In 2006 alone, they got at least 10 awards! Early 2007 got Spy Sweeper two (2) more recognitions!

And if you really want a nice neat package, then Spy Sweeper also comes with an antivirus.

So if you’re unsure whether you’re being “watched”, look at Spy Sweeper.
