13.MayDyan-dya-dya-ran, dyan-dya-dya-ran

The title is meant to be the ominous intro… You know that classical music often used in film noirs?

The City skies today are darker than the picture I pasted in my previous post. I think the UK weather is sympathising with the rest of the working class (the headline today read “2.2 MILLION: Jobless total rockets again as 244,000 are thrown out of work since Christmas. It refuses to let Summer start.

Added to the fact that when you come in to the office in the morning, the depression and sadness is so thick you almost choke. Well, that could just be my imagination. All of the sudden, the office seemed emptier. And that is weird because no one has left since I March… Okay there were two, both Sales(!), but they almost do not count as they’re locked in a separate area, they’re not on the main floor.

I got asked twice today if I have already updated my CV. I have, I just haven’t posted them on job sites yet.

Last night I opened a LinkedIn profile, a site I’ve been ignoring since its launch. But I was so knackered I didn’t have the energy to fill in the job descriptions. Maybe this weekend. Tonight I plan to update at least one job site.

Some of my colleagues are openly looking for work. That is their accepting calls and scooting off somewhere private. Well that’s everyone except the Dev Manager. His phone rang conveniently at the time when the dong and the super bossings were away. He then commanded the boardroom in full view of everyone. When the developers returned from lunch, one quipped that I should inform their manager the job centre is around their corner not in the boardroom. hek hek hek

These guys are all saying there aren’t much out there in terms of job openings. One said he’s just going to have to sell his body. hek hek I tempted to say he might end up in the bargain bin.

On the homefront, hubby is doing well. I thought he’d panic and worry like he used to when we didn’t have real problems to worry about. Faith has a lot to do with this and I thank God so much for this. I always maintain that no matter what happens in our lives, as long as we love each other, we can be happy eating kamote.

He’s been at the calculator and notebook, working out the  budget, checking the shortfall. He asked me how much allowance I want allocated while I’m “jobless” and I said I would only need money for fare when I have a job interview. But he said he’ll allot £100.

I think he’s slightly excited being the sole breadwinner and that he’s actually going to be the Provider – yes in bold print. And that’s not a bad thing. I know that even if he’s been a supportive boyfriend-husband all these years, that his confidence is getting a needed boost now.

The thing though is started venturing into “what you can do while looking” scenarios. He said it would be good that I will get a chance to spend more time with pogiBoy and that’s really one thing I am looking forward to so much. I could also do the small projects at home like reorganising our files, the office, my stuff, the clothes (this shouldn’t be a surprise I’m QA – hello anal-retentive). But he added gardening and spring cleaning… I looked at him with a face that says “stop right there“.

I mean, I got to find a job soon. He’s writing me up a virtual to-do-list. That used to be my job!

I am used to being the main breadwinner and hubs in the last two years has taken over more of the domestics. That’s not your typical man-wife setup. We’re typical in most aspects like me nagging me writing the shopping list, writing the to-do list for when he’s at home and him sleeping late on weekends when I do the cooking.

Now it looks like the role-reversal is going to be undone.

Thank you nga pala sa mga “good luck ninyo.
