01.Augan incredible love story

I received the same email from my sisters about this Chinese couple who had a May-December affair.

I proceeded to reply, talking about Joel and I, but I ended on a different love story.

I miss her with all my being it hurts even after 6 years.

Ganyan kami ni Joel e... In a sick kind of way… hehe

Joke lang!

When we were due to be married, I went to Lola. I asked her how will I know whether Joel is the one. I have my doubts, sabi ko. What if it doesn’t work out? What if maloko lang ako? How can I leap into the unknown without a safety net? What if I don’t really love Joel & I just miss having someone?

After that they had 4 kids…

So isip ko walang comparison sa akin dahil wala syang choice. Ako naman may choice pero takot to gamble.

I don’t know where Joel and I are heading. I’d love to grow old with him. I want to die first as I’d be too scared to lose him. But you know what, pag galit kami, minsan nakaka-miss yung single ka lang.

Basta ang alam ko, miss na miss ko si Lola. Every single day. RIP.

Such enduring love story. Yes, after being married 24 years and having known each other even longer than that, I still wonder how my love for my husband, Mr. Wonderful (and vice versa) would endure till old age. We have known each other longer than before we met; at times we just act like brother and sister, other times we couldn’t stand each other and nearly kill each other (not literally, of course). However, it always come to a point where we assess things and find we couldn’t live without each other.
We are at that age when mortality is more in our consciousness; aches and pains of middle age are becoming the norm. It’s hard to think, that in the end we will all die. To get to that point, we just make the most of it with each other in the meantime. Treasure each other.
Your and Joel’s love for each other will endure. There are temptations and diversions, but in the end the strength of that love will persevere.
You must have loved your Lola so much. I’m sorry she’s not here any longer. You would have had such a closed relationship with her. I wish my lolas were that closed to me growing up. One (mother side) died when I was really young; the other was way too old and fragile to play with us.
Thanks Auee for letting me leave comments. Take care!

been lola-less for a long time now and yes, i miss them too. kasi kahit na anong ikwento ko sa kanila. tatawa sila kahit hindi nakakatawa thus, my kids are really lucky to have two lolas’ and two lolos’ — and yes, i’ve read that story about the chinese couple. neverending love.

Lolas have a way to make us feel special and lolas have a way to make us feel not special too. I never had that much chance with my two Lolas, not because they died early but because they each had their own favorite apo and it happened to be not me.

That’ why I encourage my children to be close to my mother (sabagay, sila lang ang apo) and even if my parents are in the province, aba, mama even sends more sms to my kids than to me.

Tapos biniro ako na kawawa nga daw si Joel dahil mabait ang tao e ako buset.
