08.Marsmothering sunday

Last Sunday was Mother’s Day here in the UK and in Australia. I wasn’t expecting rose petals on my bed, but I was hoping for a morning kiss and a breakfast made by someone else besides myself. I got squat. Nada. Nil. Zilch.

Kelvin woke me up at 6am saying he wants telly. I shooed him off to his Dad who turned over and snored his way out of the situation. Long story short I got up, fixed Kelvin his brekkie, did the fry-up for myself and hubby. Then sent some friends their “Happy Mother’s Day” greetings, answered a few calls and did some calling, too.

By 10am I was already grumpy. Hubby was bug-eyed and was wondering why I was being irrational. My so sweet a husband said that he sent his greetings to our friends and refrained from greeting me because he was holding out til lunch time. I don’t know where he gets this crazy idea that it will be a better surprise for me, when he was only going to say “happy mother’s day, mahal” to me. It’s not as if he was going to give me a 10-carat diamond ring.

Thankfully, the moon wasn’t out so I managed not to kill anyone and actually enjoyed our lunch. We went to a tapas bar called La Tasca. Kelvin was immune to everything and he was so happy that we were joined by ate Nimfa and his Kuya PJ. Afterwards I treated myself to a cheap bag, some cheap clothes and kitchenware. At the end of the day, I was ready to forgive the world.

Belated Happy Mother’s Day to Pining, the only other Pinay blogger in the UK that I know of. Thanks to Denden for that sweet message. I will greet the other sexy Filipina mums in May. But honestly, we mums should be pampered more than once a year :-)

The good boy

Our tapas selection: calamari, fritata, paella, gambas pilpil, spinach avocado salad & prawns in olive oil

Drink made in “heal that anger” heaven: Cava Sangria. Sobrang sarap naka-tatlo tuloy ako… Siguro kaya good mood ako afterwards

Ate Nimfa with son PJ, she’s in 7th Heaven coz he bought her a necklace as a surprise gift

Belated Happy Mother’s Day!! Agree ako…mother’s should be pampered more than once a year. Tapos kahit once a year…kahit 2 carats lang…di ba

geri, salamat Tanggap naman ako haha
To tell you the truth the first time I saw a tapas bar, I thought to myself how on Earth can you have a tapsilog-an bar in London? hehe

    verns, sinabi mo
Ang masama I really find it hard to calm down. I can’t tell myself to go to my “happy place”.
What you said is true though, the good thing is magkakasama pa din kami knowing that I’m not the easiest person to live with.

cookie, please please tell my hubby

    Belated Happy Mother’s Day, Auee.

Natawa naman ako dun sa diamond ring. Hubby just gave me a mobile phone the other day which he bought for a bargain price and told me its a Valentine’s Day, Mother’s day, Birthday and probably Christmas day gift rolled into one. Yeah right

Pampered or not, we sure are all proud and fulfilled being a Mother.

  8. auee Says:

denden, we’re not spoilt for choice in Romford so La Tasca is a really nice option compared to Nando’s and Outback
It’s our second time to try the place and lagi naman kaming busog for less than £50, ok pa ang service. Kelvin ate so much Calamari grabe. And you really have to try that Cava Sangria

teacher Julie, madaya yang hubby mo ha
Hirit ko lang sa asawa ko yang diamond ring na yan pero di ako talaga mahilig sa alahas

feng, you’re so right. The last 2 weeks sobrang lambing ni Kelvin sa kin nakakatuwa. Halik nang halik, pag naman di pa naalis ang pagod ko sa work, ewan ko na.

  9. lady cess Says:
