09.Octworking mum’s bag
Have you seen the film “One Fine Day” with Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney? It’s a feel-good romcom. Not great, but not bad either. I was already a mum when I saw that film & the biggest thing that struck me was Michelle’s bag.
It was huge. At one point in the film, she produced a zip-lock plastic with her son’s toy cars. The toy cars sealed a contract for the firm she works for as the cars provided some focal point in her building (?) model.
When I was single, my bag was an accessory. True, I was a girlscout & you can find most things you’d need in my bag. But the bags were stylish & petite. Since becoming a mum, my bags went from medium size to combat-ready-size.
I carry less stuff now that Kelvin is nappy-free but I still need an extra shirt, some wipes, food, juice, and other munitions to keep him amused whenever we go out. So rather than go thru the trouble of re-organising my bag-containers, I just keep that huge bag & use it all week (or month at work). Imagine what I look like when I’m also lugging a laptop & struggling to stay upright in the Tube.
Anyway, you know what they say when some people are given storage, we find ways to fill it to the brim? It’s 100% true for me.
So my daily bag is filled with my packed lunch’s container, scarf, gloves, makeup bag (that I rarely use), papers, clips, band-aids, mints, moleskin, pen, map, train schedule, etc etc.
The laptop bag? I manage to fill that with my water bottle, papers from work, mouse, arm brace, and every now & again, stuff for Kelvin. See below.
okay that’s my lunch “box”See now that’s how you balance your work and family commitments. Use everything at your disposal, no matter how heavy. Afterall, when you’re in love the weight drops off the scale.

naku korekek ka dyan, i think aside from physical changes moms go thru, they have to add on the list yang bag na yan..
ako, i always have my digicam (to capture great moments with louna syempre) and some napkins, pantyshields and tampons in my bag. just this week, louna was playing with my bag while i was doing shopping (she’s riding the cart), and know what, she was already playing with those stuffs, kakahiya! and i didnt notice it till a guy informed me because louna already lost a tampon. bad trip.
I am not alone!! My hubby keeps complaining about my “maleta” bag. I think he wants to see me with those “kilikili” bags which are so puny that you can’t even keep a cellphone and wallet in them at the same time. Tama yan. Itaas ang bandera ng malalaking bag. Tutal uso naman yan eh
Oooh… I loved One Fine Day!
I’m not even a mom yet and I always carry a big bag with me. Everyday, when I go to work, para akong mag o-out of town. 
I love those pockets in your bag.
ako nga di pa mummy malaki din ang bag ko for work. kasi gusto ko lahat nandun…pareho tayo may lunchbox sa bag. hehehe.
ana, hehe dyahi nga yan. Si Kelvin naman laging pinaglalaruan pantyshields ko, thankfully sa bahay lang nya nakukuha. :-P
cookie, since hubby ko sanay na sa bag ko, I often ask him to carry it for me. hehe

denden, bad trip nga dito sa opis ko walang microwave. Di tuloy ako makapagbaon ng adobo hehe
ay ganun? guess what, adobo baon ko ngayon. leftover from last night. hahaha. mangamoy na kung mangamoy.
I can relate. I love bags and I have a lot of them in different sizes but ever since I became a mom, I rarely use my smaller bags anymore.
Don’t be surprised to find a zip bag inside with mini crayons, pencil and eraser. Sometimes, there are even Matchboxes cars inside. I often carry with me a bag of gummy bears.
