18.Junshopping for the garden
This year it was hubby who has been pushing to get started on the garden. I wasn’t too keen. But two weekends ago, he woke up early without prompting (!) & when he went downstairs, he said he was ready to go! Amazing. Usually he takes a 1 to 1.5 hour pag-iinin before getting up. He then takes another 1-2 hours to get ready for anything. I kid you not.
Anyway, we went to our local Homebase. I wanted to go a nearby weekly farmer’s market, but hubby insisted it’s not convenient. But I was already thinking the shop will cost us an arm and a leg, it did.
Anyway I wanted to share some pictures I took of Homebase’ garden centre. The place was really nice, I wanted to grab everything in sight, including their garden gnomes!

I will post pictures of the plants in our garden soon. Most are looking healthy & have started to blossom, while some according to hubby are wilting.
The pictures were taken with my Nokia 70.

I’m a regular to garden centers too, either B&Q or Homebase… love those Hydrangea, but I’ll pass on the gnome…find them a bit creepy!
Wow. I just hope I have the guts and the skills to grow these green plants. All we have are weeds, the grass, though, not the other kind,
Gardening is fun and rewarding especially when you see the plants and flowers growing. Looking forward to seeing your garden.
If there’s anything I am praying for, it would be to have a spacious garden which I can cultivate, where I can paint, read a book, or just bum around in the afternoon. (sigh) at the rate I am earning, mukhang it will forever remain a dream.
hi pining… Babalik daw kami ng asawa ko sa Saturday. I want to get some anti-slugs pellet and some cat deterrent, too. I love garden centres too, I can spend 2-3 hours just browsing hehe
hi teacher julie… try some hardy plants. We’ll find out soon if I’m green-fingered or not. Hopefully at least 3 of the plants we bought will survive for a whole year, at least. Semi-green fingers crossed.
hi rachel… yes, it is very rewarding. I took some pictures yesterday & I will post them perhaps tonite or tomorrow.
hi tito rolly… you know local councils here lease plots of land for gardening. My British-Pinoy neighbour got into gardening last year and he’s now renting an allotment. Tatanim daw sya ng upo, kalabasa at ampalaya from seeds he got from Pinas last month. Sana merong ganito sa Pinas ‘no?
Our husbands are the same… very slow in the morning.
That garden center is beautiful. Even a brown thumb like me would be inspired to start a garden with all those plants. Good luck on your gardening Auee!
plants die on me… i wish i have a green thumb… a house with plants looks really homey!
hi toe… thanks. I’m not sure if we can sustain our efforts but hopefully at least for the entire summer we can keep the plants alive hehe
hi jo… Yes, I love going in houses with plants. The only ones inside mine are small potted plants, I wanted to get bigger ones but it’s not yet ideal with my toddler. Soon maybe.
