24.AprSuper Laway
We attended a Pinoy neighbour’s 7th birthday party. He’s a nice kid & his sister is even nicer. They’re always gentle with my toddler so I’m happy to get off my son’s back & leave him in their care.
The boys started to tease the girls by invading the sister’s room, where the nice-smelling girls were grooming each other. The boys on the other hand were all sweaty & when I checked their room I got out immediately. The smell was too overwhelming, magkasamang pawis at init. Anyway, the girls took Kelvin & he was only too happy to “guard” their door against the invading forces. They played for hours.
On the way home, hubby told me that when he checked on Kelvin, the birthday boy told him “Tito, kakampi namin si Kelvin, spy sya sa girls kasi may special powers sya!” Powers? They call him “Super Laway“. Kawawa naman anak ko. He was dribbling excessively that his chest was so wet, forming an “S” (like superman’s) on his shirt.
Tawa kami ng tawa. Mga bata talaga… At least di sila nandiri & my son loved being part of the game. I loved it, too.

Awwww. Super dribbler pala si Kelvin … malay mo that will translate into super ball dribbling .. ahay .. walang masabi. Haha. The nice thing is that terrible twos grow into terrific threes and then into formidable fours, etc. etc. Oh my, pasensya na .. I am rambling. Hope you’re having a good day. Malamig ba dyan?
hi annamanila
Yes it looks like a better day than yesterday.
Today it’s warmer. Yesterday was freakish. It was hot for the last 2 weeks tapos biglang lamig kahapon.
re: Kelvin
Back to the drawing board kaming mag-asawa about our discipline measures.
;-P
Auee, just be consistent with your discipline. Tell him what you want him to do, not what you don’t want him to do. Like instead of saying “Don’t run” say “Walk only or slowly”. Hope this unsolicited advise will help a bit.
hi julie,
I don’t mind unsolicited advices when it’s for my son’s welfare hehe I’m willing to try anything that will help him & us make “discipline” a less painful experience.
I’ll talk to hubby about your suggestion. Tama ka, perhaps he’ll respond better to positive encouragements rather than commands.
nakakatuwa naman talaga ang mga bata… my son doesn’t have playmates because we live on the 3rd floor, and the grounds outside isn’t conducive for kids. I’m in Pasig and the neighborhood is the typical “siksikan”, walang garage man lang. So I’d rather have him inside the apartment, baka masagasaan pa. Anyway, that’s why when we’re in the mall, I let him play with the kids, mahilig nga manghalik eh (i’ll have to make a post on that hehe).
Anyway, I also read somewhere nga about avoiding the negative words, eg. “don’t”. I guess we have to make a list of the alternative things to say in place of the “don’ts”. :-)
your son seems to me a darling huggable kid! soon he will grow to be a charming lad…don’t worry, i am sure you and your husband are his role models.
Hi zahflo, thanks for dropping-by.
Kakatuwa naman anak mo, normally di ba little girls ang mahilig manghalik? It’s good you expose him to a play set up, mahirap talagang pinalalabas ng bahay sa Manila ang mga bata, esp kung busy street ‘no?
Sexy mom, salamat for the kind words. We try our best.
At least he got to spend time in the nice-smelling room instead of the sweaty stinky one
Hi Christianne, oo nga e & he enjoyed the attention from the girls who are all hugging & kissing him. Sabi ko lang wag im-makeover baka paguwi namin he’s in pigtails with lipsticks.
:-)
How cute! Love how kids think. They seem to come up with funny nicknames.
My son was a dribbler too. My sister-in-law said that perhaps, when I was pregnant there was a certain food that I wasn’t able to eat kaya naglalaway daw ang anak ko parati. Funny lang kaya I shared it with you.
Thanks for visiting. Weekend is almost here. Have a lovely time.
hi auee! how are you? i think all kids came with extra salivary glands. LOL! with lucho, it was buckets full during those days =P
i envy your baby, though =( luis doesn’t have any playmates here except for me. so i am really looking forward to him starting school next week.
hi sheilamarie
He’ll often tug on my arm & say “play”. Nakakaawa nga kapag ganun kaya we love his nursery so much.
